It is rightly said that one's attitude determines one's altitude! And nothing helps one progress more than the attitude of gratitude. It is Thanksgiving today in Canada. A chance to spend wonderful time with friends and family. Where we take time out to specifically thank and express gratitude to all that has been given to us and to those people who brought joy and opportunities into our life. Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed week ahead...

As we start the new quarter, it may seem like this year passed by swiftly and in total chaotic turmoil! The world around us seems to be constantly challenged with basic values of comforts and existence. As we each approach this new week, it is probably wise to remember Buddha's words.
As the world sorts itself out, we each can contribute in our own way in the work that we do- where our efforts not only benefit us individually but also positively contributes to the greater benefit of our team, our company and the world at large.

We all have heard folks complain about it being “a Monday”. It is said that maximum heart attacks in the USA have been observed at around 9 am Monday morning. So, obviously there are people who not only “hate” what they do, but can feel stressed out enough about it to bring on a cardiac arrest!
By the same token, if you pick out any motivation or inspiration book that gives guidance on success, the first thing they will say is that we need to love what we do, if we are looking to excel in it. This does not pertain only to professional work (though that is what I am hinting at here), but for any task we have to complete. If we resent doing something, then there is no way we will be putting forward our best. What is even worse is that we will not only be shutting out other team members with our negative countenance and complaints but also closing doors to innovation and opportunities.
Hopefully you love what you do and if not- then, are you ready for a change? If yes, then great- what are the steps you need to take to make it a reality and if no, then why not? What is holding you back? How can you address those items?
Doing this exercise will help you to bring any under the surface dis-satisfaction to light and then you will feel more equipped to strategically address each aspect with courage and planning.
Something to think about as you start a new week. Happy Monday everyone and wishing all a wonderful week ahead…
Special note for Leaders & Managers...
When employees are engaged they perform better. This not only increases productivity but also saves much human capital overhead costs! You may want to read my article on Understanding Employee Engagement.

Learning is an integral part of life in general- though not many people necessarily view it that way. Most are
content with never picking up another book after they leave their educational institution. But Learning and
Development is an absolute necessity for Career Advancement. Even the busiest CEO makes sure to read
several books a year, if not each month to not only keep up with the advancements in their field of expertise, but also to keep abreast of the trends and changing scenarios in their industry and sector.
This inspiring quote by Confucius is surely going to make us think more on how we would like to gain learning
and even more importantly wisdom- which is “learning in action”.

Here is a simple and yet profound quote from Confucius. It is not just a philosophical quote about life. Its message is very much applicable for our daily work routine. Do we complicate matters more than what they are? Are we able to look for the simplicity of a scenario- which typically tend to be just the relevant facts, without all the emotional burden??
It is true that there are many situations at work can be complicated with multiple stake-holders and varying vested interests. But many a times, it is our own emotional baggage which insists on complicating situations far more than they are or need to be! If we are to keep our own reactions in check, we can help to bring calm semblance to an otherwise complicated or even an explosive scenario. Something to think about as we start this week.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Monday and an awesome week ahead…
