Ground school is a lot of commitment. It takes almost 30 hrs. of study and school time each week. So, if you are a new aviator like me and is planning on getting your Private Pilot's Lesson, please note that yes- flying is fun. There is nothing as 'cool' as getting an Ariel view of the world. You really do feel like on "top of the world"! BUT, learning to fly is a lot of commitment- in terms of time as well as money.
A Private Pilot's Program can easily cost around $20,000 to complete the instruction (ground school as well as flight instruction) plus other fees and sundries. Plus it is a lot of studying...
Think about it this way- if you needed to complete a crash course (sorry about the pun! :-)) in Aeronautical Engineering in sixteen weeks, that will be Ground School for you.
As this warning by Transport Canada posted on our school bulletin board says- "It's better to be on the ground wishing you were flying... than to be flying wishing you were on the ground!"
Flying is a lot of fun, but it is serious business...
Hope to survive it this time around. Atleast I have eased out a bit on the App Dev work this quarter. So, can hopefully take it nice and easy with learning to fly!
As the song goes... "I Believe I can Fly..."
